CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Get to Know Us
The Children's Choir for talented boys and girls in grades one through three has been in existence since 1993 and is the training choir for the older Concert, Ambassador, and Chamber Choirs. Meeting once a week on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:15 PM, these singers focus on singing their music with a beautiful tone, learning the basic skills of music reading, hearing stories about the composers and historical eras of their music, how to perform in formal concerts, and building a team. Mrs. Leah Durham is their conductor/teacher, with assistance from Mrs. Sarah Vander Wal, and Dr. Steven Taranto, these young musicians are led expertly each week. This training choir has often been invited to sing at local civic events and always participates with all four Alabama Choir School choirs in the school's winter and spring concerts at the University of Alabama School of Music's Moody Concert Hall each December and May.

"We are so thankful for the Alabama Choir School. Our daughter Lottie believes she is an opera star and we know her participation in ACS can make that a reality. She is always excited to join practice and learn alongside other children from renowned musical talent who are fully invested in enriching the lives of children in our community. Thank you ACS for the decades you have invested in young singers and the joy it brings to all who hear them."
