The Alabama Boychoir was established in 1985 by Karen Nicolosi
and 17 charter members. By 1998 it had grown to over 100 boys in three choirs who had performed around
the United States, in Canada, Italy and England, as well as in Carnegie Hall in New York City. The music
sung by the boychoir represents composers and folk music from the last 500 years. The boys work in a highly
structured atmosphere with emphasis on building self-discipline, self-esteem, and respect for others. In
the last six years, the boys have performed three times for the guests of the President at the holiday tours
of the White House, celebrated Mozart's 250th birthday in Austria and Germany, and presented concerts in
Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2010 they will tour Rome, Florence, Assisi, and Pisa to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
