The Alabama ChoirSchool was orginally founded as the Tuscaloosa BoyChoir in 1985 as a community organization for talented boys ages 8 through 14. The BoyChoir name was to the Alabama BoyChoir prior to its first international tour in 1992. With the addition of the Childrens Chorus in 1993 and the Girls Chorus in 1995, the name was changed to the Alabama ChoirSchool. The last component of the ChoirSchool, the Alabama Chamber Choir was added in 2006.
